Artist Statement

I engage line as a metaphor, creating marks that repeat and weave themselves together like fabric or a raga or indicate movement for a swaying dance.

Like rivers, sometimes the lines can be traced to their origins, but another’s end and beginning may never be found. The lines are formed by the path or movement of a river or by a swirl of leaves caught in a current or the wind.

My focus is sometimes on directing and ordering line, but mostly I am intrigued by tangles, overlays, and apparent disorder.
