Artist Statement

The work I am currently showing is from a large mixed media series entitled Emptied Nests. It began with wanderings through the Richter Collection at the University of Wisconsin Natural History Museum when I relocated back to my native Wisconsin after spending 32 years teaching art at the University of Oregon. Objects and ideas from museum co-mingle with my own life’s collection of people, places, and objects allowing me to creatively probe, ponder and appreciate the fragility of life.
